Cold Cap Therapy with Ridley Tree
Our Impact

Boosting Cancer Patients’ Confidence with Cold Cap Therapy

For cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy, losing their hair can be a difficult experience. Hair loss can affect a patient’s confidence and self-image. But there are treatments that can help patients retain their hair and, in the process, feel more like themselves.

With your help, we’re making these treatments accessible to more patients. RevitaLash® Cosmetics has renewed our partnership with the Cancer Foundation of Santa Barbara and pledged a two-year, $100,000 grant to provide cold cap therapy to cancer patients. Eligible patients at the Ridley-Tree Cancer Center and UCLA Health in Santa Barbara, California will receive no-cost scalp cooling treatments to help them retain their hair during chemotherapy.

What Is Cold Cap Therapy?

Cold cap, or scalp cooling treatments can help people undergoing chemotherapy prevent hair loss on the head – a common side effect of chemotherapy drugs. Patients wear the cap before, during, and after their chemotherapy infusion. The cap circulates coolant liquid to cool the patient’s scalp, restricting blood flow to hair follicles which in turn limits damage to the follicles.

Eligible patients at Ridley-Tree Cancer Center and UCLA Health will receive free treatment with the Paxman Scalp Cooling System thanks to our grant. The innovative Paxman system, renowned globally for its effectiveness, has assisted over 100,000 patients in more than 50 countries.

How Will the Cold Cap Program Support Patients?

This initiative aims to provide vital support to cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy treatment. Many patients are unable to afford or access scalp cooling treatments as they undergo treatment for cancer. Our grant will make cold cap therapy available free of charge to eligible patients at Ridley-Tree Cancer Center and UCLA Health Santa Barbara.

"We believe in the transformative power of programs like the Cold Cap Program and the work being done at the Ridley-Tree Cancer Center and UCLA Medical Center,” says Dariel Sidney, Vice President of Philanthropy at RevitaLash® Cosmetics and daughter of our Co-Founder, Gayle Brinkenhoff. “It is about more than hair; it’s about preserving a patient's self-image and identity during a challenging time. RevitaLash Cosmetics is committed to supporting initiatives that promote hope and healing while making a real difference in the lives of those affected by cancer."

“We are so excited to partner with UCLA Health to expand access to their cancer patients for the Cold Cap Program generously funded by RevitaLash Cosmetics,” says Lori Willis, Executive Director, Cancer Foundation of Santa Barbara. “Therapies like these are an important part of supportive care that treats the whole person, not just their cancer.”
