How We’ve Made an Impact This Year, Together

If you’ve noticed the pink ribbon on all our product cartons, you might already know that a portion of the proceeds from every RevitaLash® Cosmetics purchase you make gives back to the fight against breast cancer. But what, exactly, does that look like?

In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, today we’re looking back on the impactful projects that your support made possible in 2024.

It was an incredible year—and one in which we reached an incredible milestone. We’ve now committed over $9 million in monetary and product donations, support, and investments in research to fight cancer since 2008! And our impact continues to grow every day, thanks to our customers like you.

Here’s a closer look at what we’ve accomplished together this year:
Bringham Event

Funding for lifesaving research

Did you know that women were excluded from drug clinical trials for decades, up until the 1990s? Even today, women remain underrepresented, leading to serious blind spots in the development of new medicines.

That’s why we’ve united forces with Brigham and Women’s Hospital in support of women’s health equity. In May, we sponsored the annual Women’s Health Luncheon, raising funds for the hospital’s Connors Center for Women's Health & Gender Biology. This incredible event featured keynote presenter and public health advocate Chelsea Clinton, and presentations from world-renowned, Harvard-affiliated Brigham physicians.

At the event, RevitaLash® Cosmetics presented the Gayle Brinkenhoff IGNITE Award, named for our co-founder, awarding $50,000 to fund the research of Aditi Hazra, PhD, MPH, Associate Genetic Epidemiologist, Division of Preventive Medicine, Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Associate Professor of Medicine, Harvard Medical School.

Dr. Hazra is studying breast cancer in women of color, who are more likely to die from breast cancer than white women. Women of color are underrepresented in studies identifying biomarkers and risk factors for breast cancer. Her project will leverage artificial intelligence tools to diagnose breast cancer and use a novel algorithm to predict outcomes for women of color.

We also funded research conducted by our longtime partner, City of Hope – one of the largest and most advanced cancer research and treatment organizations in the United States.

We provided $30,000 in funding for a study at City of Hope’s Terrence Williams Lab focusing on tumors and radiation therapy. And we continued to support the Dr. James Waisman Endowment Fund for Breast Cancer Research and Treatment at City of Hope. To date, over $1.9 million has been raised to support breast cancer research and treatment through the fund. Our Founder and CEO Michael Brinkenhoff, M.D. and VP of Global Philanthropy Dariel Sidney attended Dr. Waisman’s retirement celebration this year.

Raising funds and awareness through inspiring events

Fundraising events are an important source of charitable contributions for organizations that support breast cancer patients and conduct research that brings us closer to a cure. They can also be incredibly inspiring – especially when they highlight brave women whose lives have been affected by cancer. We were honored to sponsor some amazing events in 2024:

Simply from the Heart Fashion Show

RevitaLash® Cosmetics was a sponsor of Simply From the Heart’s fashion show in Palm Beach, FL where the nonprofit’s fabulous patients took center stage. The event raised over $30,000 for the Florida- and Illinois-based organization, which supports critical and terminal care patients at the bedside with glam boxes and pampering.

Art Bra Fundraiser

We also sponsored the Art Bra fundraiser benefiting the Breast Cancer Resource Center (BCRC) of Austin, Texas. This incredible event raised over $500,000 to help the BCRC provide non-medical support for breast cancer patients and their families.

Each year, Austin’s artists, designers, and jewelers submit their works of wearable art to be showcased by a dynamic group of models—all breast cancer survivors. The event is a tribute to their courage, strength, and tenacity.

Spirit of Life Celebration

When leaders in the beauty industry come together, we can accomplish amazing things – like raising an incredible $1,185,000 for cancer research and care at City of Hope.

We were proud to take part in City of Hope’s annual Spirit of Life celebration, where the National Beauty Industry philanthropy group raised funds to support the cancer research and treatment organization’s lifesaving work. The event at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas honored Ulta Beauty’s Jessica Phillips with the Spirit of Life Award. This award honors beauty industry leaders who exemplify the ideals and values that have guided City of Hope for over a century – compassion, service, integrity, curiosity, excellence and collaboration.

Walk for Hope

Every step brings us closer to a future without cancer. We were so honored to participate in the Walk for Hope to end cancer at City of Hope, contributing a $10,000 donation to the cancer research and treatment organization. This event, hosted by our longtime charitable partner, held special meaning for the RevitaLash® Cosmetics family: It gave us a chance to celebrate the birthday of our Co-Founder Gayle Brinkenhoff, who received treatment at City of Hope and whose legacy we honor today by giving back to the fight against breast cancer year-round. Since its inception in 1997, Walk for Hope has raised more than $47 million to support City of Hope’s cancer research efforts and life-giving care. The walk brings an entire community together for one common cause – to end cancer for all.

Brigham & Women’s 10K

Team RevitaLash® Cosmetics came together to raise funds for breast cancer research at the 2024 Boston 10K presented by Brigham and Women's Hospital. The event raised more than $330,000 to support 70+ specialty areas across the hospital!

Thrive event

Making needed care accessible to more patients

When a chemotherapy patient loses her hair, it can undermine her confidence – making the challenges of treatment even more difficult.

Our co-founder Gayle Brinkenhoff experienced this during her own battle with breast cancer. She taught us that feeling good about the way you look can lift the spirits in even the toughest times.

That’s why we were thrilled to announce this year that RevitaLash® Cosmetics has pledged a two-year, $100,000 grant to support the Cold Cap Program at Ridley-Tree Cancer Center and UCLA Medical Center, in partnership with the Cancer Foundation of Santa Barbara.

This program offers specialized scalp-cooling caps to eligible cancer patients, helping them retain their hair – and their confidence – during chemotherapy.

In 2024, we also supported the Breast Cancer Resource Center (BCRC) of Santa Barbara with a $25,000 donation to help provide non-medical therapies for patients, and to fund outreach to underserved communities about mammograms.

The BCRC has been a local source of support, resources, and empowerment for women for over 25 years. Our own co-founder, Gayle Brinkenhoff, received vital support from the BCRC while she fought her courageous battle against breast cancer.

We were honored to support the BCRC’s Thrive Fashion Show this year with a RevitaLash® Cosmetics Brow Bar and gifts for attendees, including cancer survivors and warriors. The event raised $60,000 for patient services.

Making a global impact on breast cancer

As a brand sold in over 70 countries, we support the fight against breast cancer around the world. Why? Because every 14 seconds, somewhere in the world, a woman is diagnosed with breast cancer. (Source: Breast Cancer Research Foundation)

In 2024, eight of our global partners participated in our 365-matching program, in which RevitaLash® Cosmetics matched donations made to a local breast cancer non-profit: Vietnam, Colombia, Sweden, France, United Kingdom, Italy, New Zealand and Ukraine.

This year, global breast cancer organizations received over $50,000 in product donations.

We also contributed funding to City of Hope’s Ethiopia project, which culminated with the grand opening of the Hawassa University Comprehensive Specialized Hospital Cancer Treatment Center – only the second comprehensive cancer center in the entire country of 123 million people. The addition of a brand-new state-of-the-art radiation machine in Hawassa’s facility makes it the fourth fully functional machine in the country. This project was recognized by the White House as part of President Biden’s Cancer Moonshot project, and was made possible our global partners.

Finally, our team members, led by our Founder and CEO Michael Brinkenhoff, M.D., traveled the world in support of our Eternally Pink® mission, bringing awareness to the cause that’s at the heart of all we do. Countries visited included the United Kingdom, France, Denmark, Italy, Switzerland, Turkey, Germany, and Spain.
